Recently, we have been given a blind portrait project that requires us to create a piece of art from a few words about an anonymous person in our art class. I am currently trying to find inspiration for a picture that can relate to my person. The few words I was given were "volunteer, whether or not, old people, and happy".
I am currently working on a project titled artist solving problems. We either need to have a physical, material, or conceptual limitation. For example, a physical limitation would be painting with your opposite hand or being blindfolded. A material limitation is similar to the clothespin crab I made, but the idea is to create a piece of art out of recycled or creative material. Finally, a conceptual limitation in art could be creating a piece of art making a rubber duck out of rubber bands or drawing a picture with only circles so in the end the final piece of art will be a picture consisting or circles. For my project I have decided to paint a jellyfish with actual jelly. So this could be a material limitation or a conceptual limitation. While the jelly smells nice, we do have to paint layers on top of layers to get the dark color I desire in the picture. *The picture above is not a final product*
The above picture is a crab made out of clothespins. The clothespins were hot glued together to a piece of paper in the shape of the crab. Then after I had the general shape I cut out the remaining paper so that the paper just acts like a sort of backing. Then I attached all the arms to the back so it gives like a 3D look to it. Finally, I painted the whole crab red and hot glued the eyes to the back from the spring of a clothespin.
